This page explains plainly what FindAVehicle.ca does, how we make money, and what you should expect after you apply for vehicle financing through this site.
We are not a lender or a dealer
FindAVehicle.ca is a free auto-loan matching service. We do not lend money, sell vehicles, set rates or approve applications. When you complete our application, we deliver it to licensed auto-loan lenders and partnered dealerships in our network that serve your province and situation. The lender or dealer reviews your request, contacts you directly and, if it approves you, presents a financing agreement that shows the vehicle price, the interest rate, the term and the total cost of borrowing before you sign. Your contract is with the lender or dealer, not with us.
How we are paid
You never pay FindAVehicle.ca. Lenders and dealers pay us a referral fee when we send them an application or when a referred application results in a funded loan. That fee is how a free service stays free. It can influence which partners receive your application, but it does not change the price or rate you are offered, which the lender or dealer sets and must disclose to you in writing.
What “bad credit” and “guaranteed” mean here
Lenders in our network work with all credit histories, including past bankruptcies and consumer proposals, and base decisions mainly on your income, your down payment and the vehicle. Bad-credit auto loans carry higher interest rates than prime financing, and the total cost of borrowing on a longer term can be substantial; always compare the total cost, not only the payment. No lender can guarantee approval, and we never promise it. Where our guides discuss “guaranteed approval” car loans, it is to explain why that promise is not real.
What to expect after you apply
- You complete one short application. It asks only what lenders need: your province, income, employment and the kind of vehicle you are looking for.
- We deliver it to a lender or dealer partner that serves your area and situation. They contact you by phone or email, usually within one business day.
- The partner verifies your identity and income, often through a secure Instant Bank Verification (IBV) link that gives read-only access to your recent bank activity, and reviews your credit file with your consent.
- If approved, you review the financing agreement and the vehicle. You are never obliged to accept.
Things we will never do
- Ask for your online banking username or password. Verification happens through the lender’s own secure process.
- Ask you to pay a deposit, a fee or a gift card to FindAVehicle.ca before you receive financing. Advance-fee requests are a scam; report them to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
- Promise approval, a specific rate or a specific vehicle.
- Sell your personal information.
Our editorial standards
Guides on this site are written for Canadian readers, cite the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada and provincial regulators where figures are given, and carry a visible last-updated date. Loan calculators on this site are illustrations, not offers. Nothing here is financial or legal advice.
Complaints
If something has gone wrong with your experience on this site, email info@findavehicle.ca and we will respond within one business day. Complaints about a lender or dealer should go first to them, then to your provincial consumer protection or motor-vehicle-dealer regulator, for example OMVIC in Ontario, AMVIC in Alberta or the VSA in British Columbia. Privacy complaints can also go to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
